All elected officials in Silicon Valley invited to show support for Vision-2020 “Golden Goals”

We live in a toxic time. We face a nation-wide arena filled with anger, fear and hate. We now witness the rapid decline and possible death of democracy by the end of this decade.

Let’s turn this crisis into an opportunity. Let’s empower our republic to not only survive but also thrive for future generations. Let’s conduct an audacious experiment starting here in Silicon Valley to reform our society.

Our region is globally celebrated for its “crazy” ideas and cutting-edge innovations. Life Media Group, the company that publishes Morgan Hill Life and Gilroy Life newspapers, is seeking to tap into that spirit of transforming the world with technology. We’re asking every elected official in the United States — including the American President — to support by July 4 the 20 Golden Goals of the Vision-2020 movement.

We’ve prepared an online survey listing these goals, all of which seek to give a higher quality of life to Americans as well as people in other nations. They relate to issues including vastly improving our education systems, protecting our environment, dealing with Earth’s climate crisis, encouraging cleaner energy use, stabilizing our economy, expanding social justice and gender equality, building more diversity in leadership positions, promoting enriched thinking through science and creativity, enhancing our free press to protect our freedoms, inspiring more civic engagement in our governance established on the principles of popular sovereignty, and emboldening actions for a more peaceful world.

Life Media Group invites the more than 200 elected officials representing the people of Santa Clara County to participate in a short survey and thus publicly share with their fellow citizens their support for these ambitious goals. The leaders who participate will have their names published in upcoming issues of our community newspapers, allowing our readers to learn who will stand up for basic human values.

We hope this survey will ignite wide-spread media coverage of the Vision-2020 movement and embolden the more than 500,000 elected officials throughout the United States to also show their support for the movement. Their demonstrating true leadership by supporting a better quality of life for all people will awaken the American spirit in millions of people across our country. We believe our citizens coming together as one nation dedicated to the principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness will reduce our foolish polarization, thus strengthening democracy to continue as a legacy.
