(August 10, 1935 — July 5, 2022)

Harvey Edward Craig, devoted and loving husband to Stella; father to Michael (preceded in death), Bruce (preceded in death), Laurie, Steve, Fred, and Dana Jo; grandfather to Freddie II, Sabrina, Danny; and great-grandfather to Estelle and Calethius, passed away suddenly at his home Tuesday morning July 5, 2022. Harvey was a true patriot and he spent his last night celebrating his love of country watching fireworks with his adoring wife and friends.

He was born Aug. 10, 1935, in Sheridan Wyoming to cattle ranchers Arla and Louise Craig. A real life cowboy, who from a young age tended to their many family ranches and animals before he rode his horse to school. As a boy, he loved going to the reservation with his mother, making friends and learning from the indigenous Crow children. This inspired one of his many talents as an incredible leather craftsman of saddles, belts, chaps, purses, furniture and more.

“Bright eyed and bushy tailed” (as he would say) at 18 he had his sights set on bigger things in life and seeing the world. He enlisted in the Navy where he served his country honorably for 24 years retiring as a Senior Chief Petty Officer Air Traffic Controller. A true Navy guy who always advocated for his reports, doing what he could to keep them in the Navy, while inspiring others to join. He was selected to be President Johnson’s personal Air Traffic Controller and received letters and Christmas cards from the Commander in Chief himself. After retiring from the Navy, he joined PG&E where he had another 24 year career. He believed in the Freemason way of life and was proud to attain 32nd degree Scottish Rite Master Mason & Shriner with the Eastern Star Santa Clara Chapter 195.

Many in the Morgan Hill community knew him not as one, but as two who were one — the Harvey and Stella duo. These two truly lived in love, recently celebrating their 50th anniversary. They enjoyed many adventures, travels, friendships and time with family. He is a breed this world will never see again. We are so very grateful for all the memories, his stories, the love, and his inspiration to fulfill your duties and live a full life. He will be missed dearly.

Memorial service will be held at 4:30 p.m. at Lima-Campagna-Johnson Funeral Home in Morgan Hill, Friday, July 29. Celebration of Life and Navy salute to follow at 6 p.m. at the Craig residence.
