The Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce includes a wide variety of members. One of our many retail members is Mainstream Boutique, opened in 2019 by Karen France in Cochrane Commons. Mainstream Boutique is a women’s clothing store franchise started in 1991, with more than 80 franchisees throughout the United States.

Karen France began her career in fashion in New York City, at the Fashion Institute of Technology whose alumni include Calvin Klein and Michael Kors. After graduating Karen started her own high-end women’s knitwear manufacturing company. After moving to the West Coast, she designed and manufactured specialty knitwear for the film industry.

Karen left her successful career in fashion to focus on raising her children, and later taught art classes.  Five years ago, she was in Waco, Texas teaching art, and she visited her first Mainstream Boutique. With her years in fashion, she appreciated the value that Mainstream brought its franchisees and the seed was planted.

In spring of 2019 Karen opened a franchise in her hometown of Morgan Hill. Despite the pandemic, she has grown her business with a focus on social media marketing combined with a brick-and-mortar building.

To celebrate the three-year anniversary of her boutique, France partnered with Guglielmo Winery and hosted a fashion show to raise money for the Edward Boss Prado Foundation. More than 200 women attended, toasting the anniversary while raising funds to help our community.

Mainstream Boutique is located at 1049 Cochrane Rd. You can follow their latest fashion finds on Instagram and Facebook at Mainstreamboutiquemorganhill, or on their website at https://mainstreamboutiquemorganhill.com/ or visit them in person. They are open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
