The Taste of Morgan Hill has been a local tradition for more than 30 years.  According to Greg Sellers, one of the event founders, “Councilwoman Laurie Bjarke suggested modeling it after the Taste of Chicago” which highlights the cuisine and diversity of the Windy City.

“The first event included a car show with three cars. The goal was to highlight the five restaurants downtown. We also had a block of booths dedicated to local nonprofits like W.E.R.C (Wildlife Education and Rehabilitation Center).  We really wanted to showcase the community,” he said.

The Chamber of Commerce began managing the Taste of Morgan Hill in 1993. Since then, it has evolved into the entertaining art, wine, cars, and music festival we all have come to love in the heart of our downtown the last weekend in September.

The cost of newly added public safety and insurance requirements to keep this event on Monterey Road and overall operating costs from inflation have increased significantly since our last festival event in 2019.

The combination of these factors impacted the chamber’s financial projections indicating the budgeted costs were greater than the estimated income from the event. This caused the cancellation of the 2022 Taste of Morgan Hill.

The entire Board of the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce is determined to see this event continue and we are working diligently to create a great venue and event activities for 2023.

We are committed to keeping our community informed as our planning discussions continue for 2023 and are most appreciative of your continued understanding  and support.

The Taste of Morgan Hill will be back!
