In 2015, Bev Locsin was working in corporate sales and her husband, Joe Locsin, was a licensed masonry contractor. Their children Mikaila and Jacob were both interested in majoring in business. So the gang decided to start a family business that would give them firsthand experience.  After much research and discussions, the family opened Cal Coast Kettle Corn.

During the past eight years, their business has grown significantly. Bev and Joe have taken over the business full time, leaving behind their prior careers. Their success is popping!

Jacob works with them, helping to manage operations and oversee the Farmers Markets. Mikaila has gone on to start her own business, Manafest Health, “bringing mind, body and spirit solutions to everyday problems.”

Their commercial kitchen allows them to manufacture their popcorn in large quantities and then bag it for resale. With Bev’s sales experience they have developed corporate accounts. They pop on-site for corporate events — big and small. They even can create personalized labels with logos for company picnics, meetings, and conferences.

Although the Locsin family sells Cal Coast Kettle Corn throughout the Bay Area, their focus and love is where they started right here in Morgan Hill. The sweet smell of success and kettle corn can be found at downtown Morgan Hill’s Saturday morning Farmers Market, local festivals, and during the Chamber’s summer Friday Night Music Series.

They give back to Morgan Hill by offering fundraising opportunities to local nonprofits, schools, and youth sports organizations. With half of all sales going back to the organization, it’s truly a win-win-win.

They recently partnered with Morgan Hill Raiders Cheer, helping them raise funds for the cheer squad. Christie Mendonca, cheer director, said working with Cal Coast Kettle Corn “supports nice people, who support our community — and the product is delicious!” They also work with many of the local schools to raise funds.
