Flash! Save water — drink wine. That’s what guests will be doing at the reinvented Santa Clara Valley Wine Auction next month. More than 15 local wineries will be offering tastings at the Guglielmo Winery’s Villa Emile Event Center. Combine that with tapas from 10 of your favorite local restaurants, Live auctioneering by none other than Mayor Mark Turner, a silent auction and live music, and you’ve got a spectacular fun-filled evening . . . and all for a worthy cause.

The Morgan Hill Community Foundation supports local nonprofit charitable organizations by connecting them with donors.

This greatly enriches the wellbeing of our happy hamlet as Wine Auction proceeds will be given back to qualified programs and projects. In 2022, MHCF provided grant awards totaling $22,000 to 10 nonprofit organizations.

The Wineries of Santa Clara Valley Association is a nonprofit made up of member wineries located in the “Valley of the Heart’s Delight” as named by the indigenous peoples that came before us. Its purpose is to educate about their craft of growing grapes and creating wonderful wine bouquets.

These two organizations have teamed up to host the auction, promoting the wine region and culinary culture of Morgan Hill and Santa Clara Valley.

The theme of  the event is“Taste. Connect. Make An Impact.” It will provide guests an opportunity to connect with local businesses and offer bids on both silent and live auction items, providing support to our charitable organizations.

VIP Experience ticket holders will be treated to tasting five premium wines in Guglielmo’s Heritage Room, charcuterie, a private barrel tasting, and a live soloist.  As a bonus, award-winning Sip Sip Hooray! podcast sommelier co-hosts Mary Babbitt and Mary Orlin will narrate the premium tasting with their insight on the wine industry.

Winery and restaurant offerings will be arranged about the Villa Emile tent for grand tasting guests to mingle, imbibe and tapas taste. Both auctions will be held in the main pavilion as well. Local businesses, organizations and residents are already donating auction items.  How about taking a chance on a seven-day trip to Mexico and/or a diamond pendant? It’ll be a truly memorable experience.

The Santa Clara Valley Wine Auction is held from 6 to 9 p.m., Saturday, March 25, at Guglielmo Winery, 1480 E. Main Ave. VIP’s get a head start at 5 p.m. Those tickets are $125, and only 75 will be sold.

Doors open for Grand Tasting ticket holders at 6 p.m. Early Bird tickets through March 12 are $85, and $100 after the cutoff. Only 225 of those will be sold. So best to get your tickets now. They can be purchased at www.santaclaravalleywineauction.org.

For more information about the event, offer auction items, or find out how to become a sponsor, feel free to visit the Morgan Hill Community Foundation website at www.morganhillcf.org.

Thanks to all who are once again bringing a wonderful community event to our jewel of the South Bay that’s not so hidden anymore.

Until next month, keep saving water as suggested above.

Cheers!
