Sunday Minnich, the executive director of the Mushroom Festival, made this statement on April 4.

“Due to circumstances beyond our control, it is with a heavy heart that the Board of Directors of the Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras, Inc. announce the postponement of the 42nd Annual Mushroom Festival which was to be held Memorial Weekend, May 27-28, 2023.

“All preparations were in place to hold this year’s festival, however, late last week we received notice that the security company terminated our contract and we are now without the required time to vet out another reputable provider to support our traditional large-scale public festival.

“Now for the good news!  Despite the numerous challenges we have been presented to host an event this year, our Board of Directors are pleased to offer the Morgan Hill Mushroom Music Benefit Event, a special evening of GREAT music on Saturday, May 27th from 4:30pm – 10pm at the Downtown Morgan Hill Amphitheater.

“Friends and family can dance the night away under the stars to Shane Dwight and the Joe Sharino Band.  There will be multiple food trucks available with a variety of culinary options, as well as, beer, wine and champagne for purchase.  Individual tickets are $60 with discounts provided for multiple ticket purchases. Attendees must be 21+ to attend and no outside food or drinks will be allowed.

“To date, the Morgan Hill Mushroom Mardi Gras organization has awarded over $1.5 million in scholarships to high school seniors who reside within the Morgan Hill Unified School District.  As always, all net proceeds are allocated towards our scholarship fund.  If you are interested in sponsorship opportunities to support this year’s fundraiser and our scholarship program, please contact Sunday Minnich at [email protected].

“This event is sure to sell out quickly! For more information on the Morgan Hill Mushroom Music Benefit and to purchase your tickets, please visit our website at https://mhmmg.org/music-benefit. Look for the festival to be back in 2024!”
