Leadership Morgan Hill is a local program introducing people to different aspects of our community with a mission to inspire leadership and service. Harpreet Vittal moved to Morgan Hill in 2017. “The community spirit here is amazing” she said. She graduated with the Leadership class of 2022 and her goal was to create synergy with local community groups.

As a former educator who serves on the Morgan Hill Parks and Recreation Commission, she was aware of the health and wellness resource efforts by different groups in the community. Vittal spearheaded the partnership between the Senior Advisory Committee, the South County Youth Task Force, Morgan Hill Unified School District, The Parks and Recreation Department and the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce. Vittal brought these groups together to create a multi-generational interactive resource fair for all ages.

“The event will synergize our resources,” she said.

Rather than separate events, families can access the information together. At the Resource Fair, vendors will be grouped based on who they serve. Four workshops are available and run at two different times, 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., located inside the Community Center. The courses include Social Media Awareness, Don’t Get Scammed by MHPD, Nutrition, Substance Use/Prevention Awareness and Mental Health.

Vendors are bringing raffle prizes and giveaways, and entertainment will be provided by Morgan Hill Unified School District as well as the Chicklets Zumba dance group. Vision and hearing screenings are available for children, and everyone can participate in the interactive displays. The focus of the event is wellness and self-care with healthcare providers presenting at one of the workshops.

The no-cost Health and Wellness Resource Fair for Families, Seniors and the Community is held outside at the Morgan Hill Community Center Amphitheatre at the corner of Dunne and Monterey Road, May 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Food trucks are available to purchase drinks and food.
