Learn About Scouts

Line Dancing

Farmers’ Market
• The Morgan Hill Certified Farmers’ Market brings together farmers, food producers and consumers from Morgan Hill, Gilroy, and Hollister from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Third and Depot streets. A family-friendly Kids Craft is included with fun educational projects to delight all ages. Parking is available at the Caltrain depot, accessed via Butterfield Boulevard.

Tour Morgan Hill Museum
• The Morgan Hill Museum and Hiram Morgan Hill House are open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with docents giving tours. Learn about the city’s history and see some new additions to the museum. The Villa Mira Monte grounds are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, where visitors can enjoy the Centennial History Trail and the rose garden at leisure.

Second Saturday

Historic Downtown Walking Tours

Daughters of the Amer. Revolution
• Members from Hollister, Gilroy, San Juan Bautista and Morgan Hill meet at 10 a.m. (through May). Sharing Stories
• Rich Hinnenkamp, retired U.S. Navy Captain and Naval aviator, takes us inside the amazing world of aviation through stories from his years as a Navy, commercial and private pilot. His discussion, “Navigating the Skies,” looks at his time in military aircraft, Boeing 747s and corporate jets and takes place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road. Rich is a long-time Morgan Hill resident and community volunteer. Sponsored by South County Lifelong Learning, the cost is $10.

“Paws with Patriots”
• Raise a glass, raise a paddle, and help raise funds for lifesaving service dog teams during the 12th Annual “Paws with Patriots” Wine Gala from 5 to 10 p.m., at OFP Canine Education Center, 13920 Llagas Ave., San Martin. This year’s hosts will be radio personality Jona Denz-Hamilton and Morgan Hill Mayor Mark Turner. Dinner includes tri-tip, chicken marsala, vegetarian pasta and dessert catered by Old City Hall Restaurant. Proceeds go toward creating lifesaving service dog teams for those in need. Aug. 8

Opiod Overdose Prevention Workshop
• The Santa Clara County Library District and the County of Santa Clara’s Behavioral Health Services Department are joining forces to spread the word about the ongoing opioid crisis, empowering residents with information about the dangers of fentanyl and other opioids. These workshops will cover drug education, including recognizing an opioid overdose, and will provide training with the over-the-counter medication Naloxone nasal spray (commonly known as Narcan). Space is limited and registration is required. Participants who complete the training will be given a free Narcan kit, while supplies last. The Gilroy workshop takes place at 7 p.m. at the Gilroy Library.

Aug. 19

Dinner in a Cherry Orchard
• The Gilroy Garlic Festival Association will host a sumptuous dinner, “A Blossoming Affair — Dinner in the Cherry Orchard,” at 6 p.m., at a picturesque location in South Valley. Tickets are $150 and are now available at www.gilroygarlicfestivalassociation.com. Dinner will feature a hosted bar, appetizers, dinner and dessert.

Aug. 30

Mental Health Access
• The Santa Clara County Library District is holding a series of events to educate and empower local residents around mental health care at libraries. The goal is to provide crucial information about accessing mental health care services. The event at the Morgan Hill Library takes place from 6 to 7 p.m. at the library, 660 W. Main Ave.

Sept. 9

Founders Dinner
• One of Morgan Hill’s best-known and longest-running traditions is back and better than ever with several surprises in store. The 54th Annual Founders Dinner brings together families and friends to enjoy good food and wine, watch Morgan Hill Historical Society’s latest film, and share favorite Morgan Hill memories as they celebrate founding families and their unique local history. This year’s event returns to the Community and Cultural Center ballroom. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and dinner is served at 6 p.m. Tickets are $95 and available through Aug. 28 at www.morganhillhistoricalsociety.org/founders-dinner.

Second Chance Week
• Second Chance Week focuses on putting more used items back into circulation and keeping materials out of the landfill. It starts with the Morgan Hill/South County Garage Sale which you can sign up for now. Each day of the week will feature a different event:
