Leadership Morgan Hill thanks David Dindak for his excellent article in the July 5 issue of Morgan Hill Life. He described our program very well and we look forward to his participation in the class of 2024 which he will surely claim to be “the best class ever.”

Our nine-month program that immerses participants in all things Morgan Hill is roughly half funded by tuition (with scholarships available). The other half of the cost of the program is funded by Leadership Morgan Hill’s fundraising efforts.

The cornerstone of our fundraising efforts is our annual Leadership Excellence Award Dinner (LEAD) where we recognize an individual or individuals who serve in volunteer positions that make Morgan Hill one of the best communities in the region to live.

The event for 2023 is coming up on Sept. 9 at the beautiful Guglielmo Winery and honors longtime community volunteer Mario Banuelos.

Mario is currently president of the Rotary Club of Morgan Hill and serves on the boards of the Morgan Hill Community Foundation, Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce and the Morgan Hill Historical Society.

He is a mentor to new nonprofits, new minority-owned businesses and high school service clubs. He supports just about every local worthwhile cause that makes Morgan Hill better. He is a jewel that Morgan Hill is so fortunate to have.

The LEAD event is a very fun evening at the winery. Friends and family of Mario, public officials and supporters of LMH will gather for a reception, silent auction, sit-down dinner (catered by Chef Lou — it will be great!), entertainment, and an upbeat recognition program. The program captures the spirit of community leadership and volunteerism that Mario so strongly champions.

The evening theme of “One Brick at a Time” reflects Mario’s approach to raising his family, problem solving and building community.
