Answer Man looks at the Granada Hotel project

Hey, Answer Man.

Can you tell us what’s going on with the downtown hotel? It’s been vacant for a while since the bottom floor was converted to a restaurant during COVID-19. Just wondering what’s going on there?

Dear Just Wondering.

The hotel is coming. Earlier this year, owner Frank Leal applied for and received permission to add a fifth floor and an additional 13 rooms.

According to Matthew Mahood, economic development director for the city of Morgan Hill, a partial fifth floor was approved that includes 11 rooms and two rooms were added on the fourth floor, for a total of 13 new rooms. In total, the hotel will now have 73 rooms.

“Kent Construction is back on site as of (early-August) and we expect construction to begin again by late August,” Mahood said. “Once completed, the hotel and restaurant should have a very positive impact on the downtown, bringing thousands of new visitors into the downtown area.”

There you are, Just Wondering. Looks like after the COVID-19 induced delay, things are back on track.
