Learn About Scouts

Line Dancing

• Join the Rotary Club of Morgan Hill from 12:15 – 1:30 p.m., at the Community & Cultural Center in the Hiram Morgan Hill Room. There is a $15 charge if you wish to purchase lunch but there is no charge to visit. San Martin Lions Club
• Play Bingo and help raise funds for the San Martin Lions Club, 12415 Murphy Ave. Doors open at 4 p.m., early bird games start at 5:45 p.m. and regular bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. They play 15 games and also have flash and Cherrybells available for sale. Buy in is a two pack for $30, extra packs are $5 and early birds are $5.

Morgan Hill Photography Club
• Monthly meetings are held at 7 p.m. in the Morgan Hill Community Recreational Center multipurpose room, 171 W. Running Group, Club Run

Morning Bike Ride
• Weekly co-ed, no-drop ride averaging 25 miles. Meet at Bike Therapy, 17540 Depot St. at 7:30 a.m. in Morgan Hill. Road bike and drop handlebars required.

Farmers’ Market
• The Morgan Hill Certified Farmers’ Market brings together farmers, food producers and consumers from Morgan Hill, Gilroy, and Hollister from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Third and Depot streets. A family-friendly Kids Craft is included with fun educational projects to delight all ages. Parking is available at the Caltrain depot, accessed via Butterfield Boulevard.

Tour Morgan Hill Museum
• The Morgan Hill Museum and Hiram Morgan Hill House are open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with docents giving tours. Learn about the city’s history and see some new additions to the museum. The Villa Mira Monte grounds are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, where visitors can enjoy the Centennial History Trail and the rose garden at leisure.

Second Saturday

Historic Downtown Walking Tours
• Free docent-led tours hosted by the Morgan Hill Historical Society from 10 a.m. to noon. Meet in front of Coffee Guys, 50 E. Third St. No reservations required. Donations are welcome. Learn more at www.morganhillhistoricalsociety.com.

Daughters of the Amer. Revolution
• Members from Hollister, Gilroy, San Juan Bautista and Morgan Hill meet at 10 a.m. (through May). Jazz at Gavilan

Nov. 4

Free Gardening Class
• Learn how to grow onions, shallots, leeks and garlic from 10 to 11:30 a.m., at the South County Teaching and Demonstration Garden, 80 Highland Ave., San Martin. These are easy to grow winter crops, even for the beginning gardener, if you follow a few basic tips. You will also plant seeds to bring home for your own garden. Presented by UCCE Master Gardeners of South County.

Book Sale
• The Friends of Gilroy Library book sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., at 350 W. 6th St. Books will be sold for $5 per bag for members and $8 per bag for non-members. The Isabel Jewell Book Store is open Monday through Friday afternoons with hardbacks selling for $1, paperbacks .50 cents. Audio Books, DVD’s and CDs for $1 or $2. Children’s books are .50 cents for hardbacks and .25 cents for soft cover, with 25 percent off everything for members.

Christmas at Villa Mira Monte
• The 29th Holiday Boutique at Villa Mira Monte takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Morgan Hill House, 17860 Monterey Road. The free event includes holiday gifts and treasures. The event benefits the Morgan Hill Historical Society’s programs to enhance the community’s knowledge of its history and by being the keeper of Villa Mira Monte, a property that houses The Morgan Hill House, The Morgan Hill Museum, the 2006 Centennial History Trail (a landscaped spiral of 100 of the most important events in Morgan Hill’s and the nation’s history) and the Rose Gardens. Author Talk
• Hubert Yoshida, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and Morgan Hill resident, will speak about his book “Operation Utah: The Die is Cast” from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center. Admission is free. His book pays tribute to fellow soldiers who died in that battle, including 21 young men from South Valley.

Nov. 9 – 11

’12 Angry Jurors’
• The Live Oak Drama Guild presents “12 Angry Jurors,” a play adapted by Sherman L. Sergel. The shows take place at 7 p.m. Nov. 9, 10 and 11 and at 1 p.m. Nov. 11, at the high school.
