The Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce welcomes businesses to join the organization and benefit from many of their initiatives. During the past 24 months, these columns have highlighted various businesses such as Discover Chiropractic where Dr. Ronald Bellistri and Julie, director of patient services, serve their patients with a focus on overall health and wellness.

Dr. Bellistri’s philosophy is to empower people to get healthy and stay healthy, educate his clients to make the right choices for themselves.

“If people are healthy, families are healthy, and communities are healthy,” said Bellistri, who has 27 years of chiropractic experience. “Many people are not proactive with their health. There are different factors that lead to that. My goal is to educate my clients and help them lead healthier lives.”

Discover Chiropractic is located at 17500 Depot St., Suite 140 in the Granary Building. They often have specials for new patients, which can be found at www.discovermhchiro.com/special/.

Another way the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce promotes local businesses is with their Quick 5 podcast. Quick 5 is a podcast aimed at highlighting local businesses and nonprofits in Morgan Hill as well as topics that affect our business community. Take a listen on your favorite podcast app.  Recently producer and co-host Kylie McLaughlin and Chamber CEO/President Nick Gaich highlighted Global Mortgage, Westmont of Morgan Hill, and the Morgan Hill Yoga Collective. There are currently 47 podcasts to catch up on!

The Chamber has several committees that serve the business community, the Education Committee is led by John Horner, former Chamber president and current Morgan Hill Unified School District board member. Their main initiative is Rock the Mock. This is a program at all three Morgan Hill high schools (Central, Live Oak and Sobrato) where students have an opportunity to attend skill building sessions and to do mock interviews with community members and business leaders.

The Economic Development Committee has merged with the Government Relations Committee. Rick Kent co-chairs the committee with Larry Carr. The goal of the Economic Development Committee is to promote the long-term economic vitality of Morgan Hill through an appropriate balance of job, business, housing, retail, and recreational growth. Longtime Morgan Hillian, Rick Kent, heads up the Economic Development side of the team. His career in local finance includes roles as CFO of Paramit, CFO of Cidco, and controller of Anritsu. Although Kent is retired from the corporate world, he volunteers his time with the Chamber and the Mission Ranch Homeowners Association.

Kent is decidedly pro-business, and proud of his involvement and direction of the committee.

“We need economic development, but it needs to be the right kind,” he said. “There is a balance.”

The committee meets monthly (via Zoom) and welcomes businesses, nonprofits  and community members to join the meeting.

The next meeting is 8 a.m. Jan. 11. Joe Raineri, founder of Terra Amico, will be presenting his vision, proposal, and next steps on the development of the Fattoria Public Market, a year-round indoor Farmers Market and Regional Food Hub located in Morgan Hill.
