I’m the new kid in town, and with a grand total of just more than six months under my belt I have discovered a part of Morgan Hill that from first glance isn’t much.
But when I investigated downtown Morgan Hill a little further, I saw much more. I saw a warmth and kindness in the people who run and own the shops and restaurants.
I met people who have lived here their entire lives and have nothing but good things to say. I also found the Morgan Hill Art Gallery that led me on my journey here.
We all have our favorite places downtown such as Ladera Grill or Rosy’s at the Beach, Just G’s Boutique or Bubbles Wine Bar. Morgan Hill has what seems to be the perfect set up. But even in all its beauty, I wondered where I can I go to see more of our cultured community in Morgan Hill to enjoy. Well, Valle Del Sur’s Art Around Town is doing just that.
I was so excited when I heard that Director of Art Around Town Jeanie Watson was starting an Art Walk. It’s something that she says she has been working toward for seven years and to see it coming to fruition is spectacular.
Art Walk takes place the first Wednesday of the month. From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., our beautiful downtown Morgan Hill will be open to show all the local artists who exhibit in the restaurants and shops.
Thirteen locations now show our artists, and we are so happy for them. Not to mention it’s free and we will provide a map to help you navigate the spots you’d like to visit most.
Now I know you won’t be able to see all the sites in one day — and that’s great! We want you to try somewhere new each month, you know, instead of leaning over someone while they eat lunch, you can have lunch another month and see their work then. And let me tell you, for all you husbands and partners out there, this would be a perfect date night to woo that special someone.
Not only putting together the Art Walk, Jeanie is also having a reception at the gallery for our featured artist of the month. Here you can meet one of our talented local artists from 5 to 7 p.m.
We are excited that we have 30 local artists now exhibiting here as well.
We hope to meet you for Art Walk, and that you see what I’ve seen in getting to know downtown Morgan Hill.
