The Morgan Hill Community Foundation is underway in planning this year’s Philanthropy Night, and is asking nonprofit organizations to submit names of outstanding volunteers to honor them at the event.
Applications for this year’s event honorees are now available from the foundation’s website at www.morganhillcf.org, said MHCF President Amy Whelan. The deadline to submit an application is Sept. 11 and organizations must be in the Morgan Hill Unified School District boundaries or benefit the people in this area.
“The event gives those (nonprofit) organizations a chance to publicly thank people who are probably very humble but really deserve a public recognition,” Whelan said. “If you look at how many nonprofit organizations and volunteers there are in town, it really does make a difference. There are so many groups that work hard in their selected areas and they really do make things better and great. They deserve a chance for people to know those organizations are made by volunteers.”
There are more than 100 nonprofit organizations in the region that benefits the residents of the area, and many of them need volunteers to help out. The Philanthropy Night event helps organizations get the word out to the community about what they do.
“It certainly inspires people to continue, but also inspires people to get involved if they haven’t yet,” Whelan said. “It lets organizations get out there and get some free marketing, if you will.”
The theme of this year’s Philanthropy Night is “Hometown Heroes.” The 10th-year event will be held starting 6 p.m. Friday Nov. 13 at the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center.
The Morgan Hill Community Foundation is proud to honor local philanthropy and volunteerism that embody the ‘Give Where You Live’ spirit,” Whelan said. “Let us know who has made the difference for your nonprofit this year.”
