There’s music in the air at the wineries this summer. Every other Wednesday evening Guglielmo Winery has been running a free summer music series called Vines & Vibes from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. with food trucks, caterers and, of course, their world famous wines. Aug. 5 the featured band is Sonic Addiction and Aug. 19 it’s The Hackjammers.

There will also be two Ladies Nights with live music, wine, food and shopping Friday evening July 31 with The Tsunami Band and again Aug. 21 with a band yet to be named. Those shows begin at 6:30 p.m. and gates open at 6 p.m. Guglielmo Winery is located at 1480 East Main Ave., Morgan Hill.

One of the most stunning places to hang out and hear live music (and lots of it) is Clos LaChance Winery in San Martin. People have been enjoying free live acoustic and electric music throughout the entire summer in this rustic setting, relaxing under umbrella-shaded tables while sipping Clos La Chance’s delectable wines.

Country radio station KRTY and Clos LaChance have joined forces for a “Songwriter Series” at 7:30 p.m. July 17. This is a unique opportunity to hear fine quality country songs performed by the people who wrote them in a beautiful winery setting. Songwriters include Mallary Hope, Mo Pitney, Phil O’Donnell and Drake White.

Every Thursday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Clos LaChance has their Time For Wine Series. For the remainder of the summer, featured bands include David Johnson July 23, JJ Hawg July 30, Soul Kiss Aug. 6, The HouseRockers Aug. 13, The Tsunami Band Aug. 20, OTR Aug. 27, and the final show Sept. 3 features The Retro Rockets. In addition, from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday July 26 it’s Groovin’ In The Grove with live music from one of my top picks for acoustic music, the Mary Ellen & Steve Acoustic Duo. Saturday, Aug. 1 the Wine Club Pick Up Party (a benefit for Hope Services) watch The Hackjammers perform from 1 to 4 p.m. And then from 5 to 8 p.m. the party continues with Sugadady. All shows will take place outdoors, rain or shine and are for those 21 and older. So leave the kids at home and be sure to dress appropriately, and have a great time!
There are many wineries sprinkled throughout the South County that have live music during the summer season. You can find some of these wineries listed at www.santaclarawines.com. There is nothing better for a musician than playing in a beautiful setting on a gorgeous day with happy people enjoying every note and every sip.

On another note…

Mama Mia’s continues to offer live music every Thursday from 6-9 p.m. on its wonderful grapevine covered patio. They offer many local wines and their food selection is superb.

Also, the Friday Night Music Series at the Downtown Amphitheater is the place to be through Aug. 28 for free music, good beers and local wines and top quality bands and acoustic openers. Check out the new stage lights that were recently installed courtesy of Leadership Morgan Hill Class of 2015. If you have not yet experienced this local gathering, it is a must do.
