Learn about low-carb living

State of the schools

Fall Garden Market

  • Arrive early for the best selection of vegetables all started by Master Gardeners and buy fall garden plants and taste the wine from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Guglielmo Winery, 1480 E. Main Ave.

 

5th Annual Brew Crawl

  • Join the 5th annual MHDA Brew Crawl from 1 to 5 p.m. This year there will be an emphasis on local craft and micro breweries. Sample 20 beers and experience the restaurants and shops in downtown Morgan Hill. Downtown Historic Walking Tour

  • Experience the rich history of the buildings in downtown Morgan Hill from 10 a.m. to noon. Docent led tours are free, donations graciously accepted. Meet at the Third Street Plaza at Monterey Road.

 

Art class at BookSmart

  • Create, print and explore gelli printing basics in this Introduction to Printmaking class using a gelli plate to create artistic prints. It takes place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at BookSmart, 1295 E. Dunne Ave. Printmaking class is open to individuals ages 8 to 88. Class fee is $30, includes instruction and supplies. Register at (408) 778-6467.

 

2nd Annual Community Barbecue

  • In appreciation of the work first responders, St. Louise Regional Hospital staff are feeding them and their families and the community at large from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the hospital, 9400 No Name Uno. The cost is free for first responders and their families and a donation of $5 for community members is suggested.

  • The Morgan Hill Tangle Club meets from 6 to 8 p.m. at BookSmart, 1295 E. Dunne Ave. Zentangle is a method to draw simple, repetitive patterns that combine to make a finished work of art. Meetings are free.

Grow a cover crop for great soil

  • Master Gardener Jan Bergkamp will explain how a cover crop can improve your garden soil and protect it from pelting winter rains from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Louise Hospital Teaching and Demo Garden, 9400 No Name Uno, Gilroy.

 

Oakwood School Open House

  • Visit Oakwood School, 105 John Wilson Way, for an open house from 10 a.m. to noon. Learn more about Morgan Hill’s independent, non-sectarian, college-preparatory school for students in preschool to 12th grade. Details: www.oakwoodway.org.
