June 26 was a night of celebration in downtown Morgan Hill. As local musician James Newell played R&B in the background at Grinds, Vines and Automobilia (GVA) Cafe’s new music lounge, more than 100 local residents joined us during the evening event to help toast the premiere issue of Morgan Hill Life. The Morgan Hill Life Launch Party showed us that people in our community truly care about having a quality source of news to help them get the most out of life in Morgan Hill.

A vanilla sheet cake had the words “Thank you Morgan Hill!” written on top in sweet frosting. The words expressed the sweet sentiment of that night. The Morgan Hill Life team truly appreciate the warm response people have been giving us for providing our community with a media source focusing on quality-of-life news and information.

But our GVA launch party is only the beginning. We have big plans for Morgan Hill Life to expand and increasingly serve all components of our community. We want to see its print and website pages grow into something that truly serves our readership and advertisers.

And we feel confident that, with the help of Morgan Hill residents and businesses, we can build our print publication into something people in our community will look forward to receiving regularly in mailboxes in the 95037 zip code. We also intend to build our website into the go-to information hub for Morgan Hill to learn about all public events and fundraisers so that more of our residents can get involved with their community.

We also are designing our website to be interactive for our readership. Each month, we will provide “quality-of-life surveys” for our readers to give us feedback that will be shared in articles that will help local leaders improve our community and schools.
Our first survey focuses on how we can better serve your needs as a media source. When you get a moment, please visit www.morganhilllife.com and click the link “Monthly Survey” on the home page. We want to hear from you about how we can better provide quality content in Morgan Hill Life’s stories and columns.

Many people who have already provided comments in our first survey have praised our premiere issue. Comments include:

* I’m very pleased with the information and quality of writing in your first issue.

* Great. Complete stories (Not lost endings) Seems to be factual, not just someone’s 2nd or 3rd hand view. I think you are doing it right.

* Nice read!

* Very satisfied. A nice change!

We at Morgan Hill Life truly appreciate the good wishes, encouragement and high level of support we’re getting in our efforts in building our community newspaper and website.

Teaming together, we can give everyone in Morgan Hill a source for quality-of-life news and information that will enhance our lives and get more of us more engaged in making Morgan Hill even better.

Thank you, Morgan Hill.
