As the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce continues to grow and evolve, this is the time of year where we thank retiring board members and welcome new ones. As such, first our heartfelt thanks to outgoing board members Scott Wilson and Marian Tankersley. Both have told us they plan to continue being active and involved members, and that they are looking forward to a bit more free time.

Wilson contributed significantly to our Environmental Affairs committee during his term, kept us in great communication with the Santa Clara Valley Water District (his employer) and has always been a cheerful and active volunteer at Friday Night Music and the Taste of Morgan Hill. Tankersley has led our Programs Committee and Taste Wine & Beer Tent for many years while also keeping us in tune with the local real estate markets through her work as an agent with RE/Max. Thank you both for your service, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with both of you.

For 2015 we have four new board members who will be bringing their experience, passion and capabilities to the team. In alphabetical order, here is a bit about each one:

Matthew Bowen

Matthew Bowen

Eagle Scout and current successful real estate agent, Matthew Bowen is bringing his passion for business development and community service to our board. Bowen has successfully chaired the local real estate agent’s young professionals group and we look forward to his help further increasing our activity in that area.

Dr. Kinsella is a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and earned his doctorate in Business Management. Initially, he plans to focus on large organization engagement and workforce development, both of which are areas the Chamber of Commerce intends to make further positive contributions.

Brittney Sherman

Brittney Sherman grew up in Morgan Hill and has a great passion for our community. Sherman is the sales manager for our extremely active Marriott hotel in Morgan Hill and has deep hospitality experience from multiple regions in the U.S. She intends to increase our engagement with the local hospitality industry while also working to get a local young professionals organization up and thriving.

Jeff Mitchell

Jeff Mitchell

We are also pleased to announce further engagement with our local media as Jeff Mitchell, publisher of the Morgan Hill Times, Gilroy Dispatch and Hollister Free Lance, joins our team. Mitchell brings a wealth of experience from previous stints on both the Santa Cruz and Salinas Chambers of Commerce and many years as a professional in sales, marketing and overall business management. He has committed to guiding us to further heights of organizational and regional marketing.

Please join us in thanking these four fine people for committing their time and resources as we all work together to further build upon Morgan Hill’s successes and capabilities.
