Play Pickleball
• Join other active adults for drop-in Pickleball games every week at the Centennial Recreation Center. Mondays from 8:30 to 11 a.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Sundays from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Pickleball is the fastest growing adult sport in America. All levels are welcome. Cookbook book club
• Join the Cookbook Book Club from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the library, 660 W. Main Ave. Each month will feature a different theme and participants can select a cookbook/recipe within the theme and share it with the group. They are also planning a potluck-style sharing of the recipes each meeting.

Bingo benefits seniors
• Bingo is played at the Community and Cultural Center, 17000 Monterey Road, to raise funds to benefit the Morgan Hill Senior Center. June 23
Celebrate downtown
• The community is invited to celebrate the parking garage, plaza and the many improvements to downtown from 5 to 8:30 p.m. on Third Street. Activities include a tarantula-naming contest, face painting, a bounce house, painting classes, live music by the Fast Lane Band and more. Mayor Steve Tate will speak at 6 p.m. and the band will play from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wine and beer will be available for purchase.

June 25
Prohibition-PartyA Prohibition Party in Morgan Hill
• The Morgan Hill Historical Society Presents the 2nd Annual Speakeasy: A Prohibition Party.
Come for dinner, a no host bar with prohibition era drinks, live music, dancing and more from 7 to 10 p.m. at Villa Mira Monte, 17860 Monterey St. Prohibition era attire is encouraged but not required. Tickets are $59 and proceeds benefit the Morgan Hill Historical Society. Tickets are available at www.eventbrite.com.

 

 

June 25
Book sale
• The Friends of the Morgan Hill Library will host a book sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the library, 660 W. Main Ave. All books are $1 or less, children’s books are .10 each. There will be a 2 p.m. $5 bag sale, or $4 if you bring your own standard size bag. A members-only preview takes place from 9 to 10 a.m. Memberships are available at the door. Teachers and nonprofits may take books for free at the end of the sale, but must pre-register with Carol at (408) 782-9029.

June 25 and July 16
Get involved with CMT
• Christian Music Theatre is a day camp for children of all faiths that uses the performing arts to cultivate respect. Children will be involved in drama, music, choreographed movement and art (set, costume and prop construction). The week culminates with a performance and every performs. Estate Planning and Medi-Cal Planning Seminars
• Join attorney Jim Ward for a 90-minute educational workshop, breaking down inheritance tax myths, inaccurate information regarding qualifying for Medi-Cal and the legal steps needed to protect assets with a sound living trust. Financial workshop
• Marisa Otto, Edward Jones Financial Advisor invites the public to a “Health Care and Your Retirement” workshop from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Community Center, 17000 Monterey Road. They will discuss Medicare coverage and traditional medical expenses, long-term care and strategies for addressing uncovered expenses. Refreshments and snacks to be served. July 2
Sister City celebration
• A celebration will be held to commemorate the 10 years of cultural exchange relationship with Morgan Hill’s Sister City, Mizuho-machi, Tokyo, Japan, at Villa Mira Mont, 17860 Monterey Road. The celebration takes place from 10 a.m. to noon, and the public is invited to attend and listen to dignitaries recount the memories and achievements of cultural exchange between the two. In addition there will be presentations of the National anthems of both countries and Taiko drum performances.

July 4
Independence Day Bingo
• BINGO! The Live Oak Emerald Regime will host a special session of bingo. Doors open at 1:15 p.m., warm-ups at 2:45 and regulars 3:15. Regular session buy-in prices. All paper games will pay $250 today. Free dauber, door prizes and give-aways. Plan is to play as many 1199s and 5-strips as possible during this special session timed so you don’t miss the parade, BBQ or the fireworks. Come enjoy the Fourth at Britton Auditorium, 80 W. Central Ave. This Bingo supports after school band programs.

July 8
Free residents day at aquatic center
• Enjoy a free day of water activities at the Dennis Kennedy Aquatic Center from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. A proof of residency is required.

July 11 to 15
TheaterFun Summer Camp
• A week longs summer camp for aspiring actors will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Morgan Hill Playhouse. They will be auditioning, getting parts, scripts and putting on “A Year With Frog and Toad,” lots of acting, singing and dancing. There will be a performance at 3 p.m. July 15. The cost is $225 per child, $10 discount per additional sibling.
